JORGE NAVASCUES
The name Navascues enjoys an excellent status in the Spanish wine world. Jorge Navascues’ father Mariano has already become one of the best oenologists and most famous wine critics of the country. But Jorge Navascues has also been quite well on his way to the top and has already worked with some of the best in his field (including Mariano Garcia (formerly Vega Sicilia) or Alistair Maling, MW).
Jorges wines belong to the Mancuso (a Vino de la Tierra which was awarded 96 Parker points in 2005), the wines of the Vino Pago cellar Pago Ayles and a half-dozen smaller boutiques cellars – mainly in Aragon – which he Advises and whose wines are vinified by him. Under the name of Cutio (from the Aragon dialect: “eternal”), Jorge has his own interpretation of a Garnish: a modern wine with the best of the Garnacha grape and properties that, during their growth, have enjoyed the ideal conditions of Carinenas : Soft, smooth, round, with attractive complexity and at the same time beautiful accessibility. Although the first year 2011 in Guia Penin was awarded 89 points, the following two yearly results were 92 points.
